Fiber Arts Friday: Birthday Handspun

8 May

I got some beautiful batts from Jennifer of Desert Garden Farms for my birthday, and I started spinning them this week. This is what they have become, so far:

I am so insanely excited about this yarn!! I got a total of 8 ounces from Jennifer, and so far I have spun about 2.5. I have a skein now that is 210 yards or so, 14 WPI (which equates to fingering/sock weight). I’m so excited to spin the rest of this, and even more so that the yardage I’m getting means I might have enough for two projects! I’m making a Multnomah shawl for myself, first, and then we’ll see what else I do with this gorgeous stuff!

In other fibery news, I have plans to finish dyeing the sample skeins for my Percy Jackson KAL kits this weekend. I have four to do, plus a skein of yarn as a trade for my friend Johanna who sent me some BEAUTIFUL spinning batts in return for the yarn. Yay for fibery friends!

So anyway, this post has been part of Fiber Arts Friday. Go on and check out Wonder Why Alpaca Gal’s blog and see the rest of the posts!!

Your spinning is great! Didn’t you just get your wheel? The colors are beautiful along with the spinning. Good job!
