Fiber Arts Friday: Warm Heads, Warm Hearts

2 Oct

Welcome back to Fiber Arts Friday, brought to you by Wonder Why Alpaca Farm!

It’s important to me to knit for my children; to create things for them in general, really. I want them to value handmade items, and I also want them to understand the importance of the creative process and of taking your time to make something special for someone else. Plus, it just makes me happy to see them smile when I make something for them.

This year I have made them all hats. Ironically enough, the handspun for all of these hats came from fiber I bought as part of CraftyPuppyLover Spin-Alongs. Carrie’s fiber is fun and spunky, just like my little munchkins, so I guess it’s a good fit! Here they are, modeling their handmade creations:

Here’s a shot of the actual hats:

I know that my kiddos will have warm heads this winter. More importantly, I hope their hearts will feel warm every time they put on their hats, knowing I made the hats just for them.

So, this Fiber Arts Friday, what have you made lately for the ones you love?

Your hats are lovely! I knitted the Bears each one last year and “they didn’t like them” even though they picked out the yarn and approved the patterns. Little Stinkers. Right now I’m starting a couple of hats for my four year old twin nieces.

I hate it when they do that! I’m worried about these; Will seems to like his but Jilly said hers is “itchy” (she is like that about most fibers except, like, cotton or bamboo) and Zack kept pulling his off his head even though he loved it when I first knit it up. So we’ll see if they actually get WORN this winter.😛

I made a cardigan for Kaeley this year, she wears it to school sometimes and after ballet class, and is very proud to tell people her mommy made it for her. I loves my bratling /sigh.

Nice hats. I especially like the one with the ear flaps. Hope you’re having a great weekend.
