Well, the Tour de Fleece is officially over! Here’s what I have to show for my most recent progress:
Yarns 10 and 11: Squishasaurus Rex and Hammin’ It Up. Fiber for both from the Toy Story SAL that CraftyPuppyLover put together:
Rex is 92 yards, Hamm is 77; both are 2ply, approx. DK weight or so. Hamm is slightly thinner and Rex has chunky parts from the locks, etc.
Yarn #12, Pinkalicious:
This one was fiber from BohoKnitterChicSpins on Etsy. I thread-plied it with bamboo crochet thread; it’s 161 yards, approx. DK weight again. This one is for sale in my Etsy shop.
Yarn #13: Federico:
This was a BFL roving in the “Duende” colorway from Beesybee Fibers on Etsy. From Wikipedia, which in this case is accurate: ” To a higher degree than the muse or the angel, the duende seizes not only the performer but also the audience, creating conditions where art can be understood spontaneously with little, if any, conscious effort. It is, in [Federico Garcia] Lorca’s words, ‘a sort of corkscrew that can get art into the sensibility of an audience… the very dearest thing that life can offer the intellectual.'” I have named this yarn “Federico” in honor of my favorite Spanish poet/writer, Federico Garcia Lorca, who was very interested in the Duende. I like to think of the word in general as a mantra for the creative process. I’m hoping to make myself something creative and beautiful from this yarn, which is approx. 313 yards of fingering weight singles.
All told, for the Tour de Fleece I have spun 40.8oz into 1761 yards. Pretty impressive, eh?
