Creative Mommy Time

26 Jan

So, one day last week Jillian said to me, “Mommy, I wish you could make me a golden necklace like Sleeping Beauty’s that stays close to my neck.” I was tempted to say, “Yep, that’d be cool,” and leave it at that. But then I was struck with Creative Mommy Inspiration.

Hey, I said to myself. You have gold-colored yarn in your stash. You don’t even like that yarn, so you could totally use it for a project like this and not miss it from your stash whatsoever. You also have some fun buttons. You could hook up a choker in no time!

And that is what I did.

Jillian's Princess Choker

It’s hard to see in the photo, and of course my camera batteries died before I could get better shots. But the basic idea is that I crocheted a flower with a chain stitch/slip stitch tie on either side. I sewed a flowery button in the center and tied the whole thing around her neck, choker style. It took me less than an hour from start to finish, and it made her happy for a few minutes.

Then she started whining that it was itchy. (Not the yarn, which is soft, but the whole concept of a necklace tied around her neck so closely.) Go figure! I’m going back to my plans to knit/crochet for myself now.

    Love the new blog look!

Lois was asking about you yesterday and I gave her an update on your life. I was told to tell you hi!

I’m glad to hear she’s still there! You can tell her I said “hi” back! BTW, I’m still reading your blog, so you have at least one regular reader, ha ha! Your post reminded me I should get back to doing the “booking through Thursday” meme thing. We’ll see!
