Most of our Christmas traditions involve Christmas Eve. Every Christmas Eve, I give my kids a new pair of pajamas (my sister used to do this for me) to wear that night. Then we make cookies for Santa, and we read The Night Before Christmas together as a family. We let the kids open one gift each, and on Christmas morning they get the rest, either at our house or at my in-laws’ house. Sometimes, we do both so we don’t have to trek the gifts back and forth. I think I love the anticipation of Christmas Eve almost as much as the excitement of Christmas morning!
