These are a few of my favorite things … and a contest!

30 Oct

Today I got my package from Ames, my swap partner for Ravelry’s Favorite Things Swap.  Check out the goods:

She sent me a magnet from her sister’s shop, cute handmade earrings with my initials from Scrabble, and cool Canadian gum!  But the best part was, of course, the GORGEOUS yarn.  It’s a colorway called Blue Jay, and it came from her sister’s shop. Way cool, huh? It’s approximately 332 yards, and now I have to figure out what to make with it!

So, here comes the contest part. Help me find the perfect pattern for this yarn!

I want it to be something for myself. Read through my blog here if you don’t know me well enough to guess what I’d like. It needs to be something that I can make with the yardage I have, and I’d prefer not to make a scarf (unless it’s one heck of a scarf). Something fun that will show off my crochet abilities and my impeccable sense of style (too much?).

The pattern itself can be from anywhere, but preferrably not from some book where I have to buy the whole book just to get it. I don’t mind paying for a single pattern if it’s really cool, but I don’t want to have to buy an entire book right now.

Contest begins today, Oct. 30, and runs through Nov. 30th. The winner will be the person who leaves the pattern I end up choosing. If for some reason there are duplicate entries of the same pattern, I will choose the first person who posted it. I will announce the winner on the site and email them.

The winner will have a choice of two prizes:
1. A copy of Felted Crochet Purses. (this is the one for my fellow happy hookers out there)
2. A handmade item from me. You can choose from: wristwarmers, neckwarmer, scarf, or hat. I will make it to your specifications/color preferences. Check out my previous blog entries or my shop to see what I can do.

So, here’s how you enter:
1. Leave a comment to this post, giving me a suggestion for a pattern I can make with this yarn. The pattern MUST be crochet; I don’t so much do other crafts.
2. Leave me a way to locate the pattern; web link, Ravelry link, etc.
3. Leave your e-mail address so I can notify you if you win. Also include which prize you would like me to send.

Thank you for playing!

I think you have enough yarn to make both the Inverness Diamonds Knitted Handwarmers and the Cowl Neck Fringed Capelet found for free at this website:
